How to file a consumer complaint online on e-Jagriti
e-Jagriti is the official portal for filing in India’s Consumer Commissions. Register, choose the Commission by the amount you paid (District up to ₹50 lakh), upload the complaint, affidavit and documents, and pay the fee online.
e-Jagriti (e-jagriti.gov.in) is the government portal for filing and following consumer complaints in the District, State and National Consumer Commissions. You can file yourself, without a lawyer.
Before you start: have these ready
- The complaint: who you are, who the company is (its registered office address), what happened with dates, what you paid, and what you ask for (refund, interest, compensation, costs).
- A supporting affidavit stating the facts are true.
- Copies of your documents: invoice, warranty, emails and chats with the company, the helpline docket, and the legal notice with its postal receipt if you sent one. Number them as annexures.
- A list of dates and a memo of parties (who is the complainant and who is the opposite party).
Which Commission
It depends on the consideration paid (what you paid, not what you claim): up to ₹50 lakh goes to the District Commission, above that up to ₹2 crore to the State Commission, and above ₹2 crore to the National Commission. You can file where you live or work, or where the company is.
